Have you ever wondered what is inside of your favorite author’s bag?  Well, Jennifer and Morgan Locklear share it all today on this week’s segment.  Enjoy!

jenn purse

Jennifer:

When it comes to my purse, I’m a minimalist. The less in there, the better and I’m always on a quest to find the smallest bag I can get away with.  I clean out my purse practically every morning before I leave the house because I can’t handle the prospect of toting around unneeded clutter, but there are a few items that are absolutely essential…

My wallet from London.  It was gifted to me and, all things considered, has held up remarkably well. My wallet is crammed full of business cards, gift cards, club cards, the recipe for a favorite alcoholic beverage, my driver’s license, my bank cards, some cash, a perpetual shopping list (why keep creating a list for the staples over and over again when I can be writing other things?) and a key card from the Heathman Hotel, which I must have forgotten to turn in to the front desk. Oops.

My keys.  I actually have two sets of keys – one for the car and one for everything else. I only displayed one set here because this keychain is a souvenir I bought during a trip to Canada a few years ago. Look closely and you might recognize the place I visited.

My EpiPen.  I have a severe peanut allergy that has landed me in trouble more than once.  After a particularly bad incident during my 20’s landed me in the ER overnight, my doctor told me the EpiPen would have to maintain a permanent residence in my bag. I’ve never had to use it, but I do admit it gives me peace of mind.

My Writing Journal and Pen.  My brain is always being bombarded with random bits of conversational exchanges. I found out the hard way that if I didn’t jot down notes right away, I’d forget the specifics later. I began carrying the journal with me so I can write moments down as soon as the inspiration hits. I don’t always know what my characters are talking about, but I record their thoughts and figure it out later. The journal helps me clear out my brain, kind of like how I clear out my purse. I honestly feel lost if I don’t have it nearby.

My Book of the Moment. This can either be a paperback or my kindle. There are several times a week when I’m just waiting somewhere for something, and those are perfect moments to pull out a book and read a few pages. Right now, I’m reading Days of Blood & Starlight, the second book in the Daughter of Smoke & Bone Series by Laini Taylor (a fellow Oregonian). My good friend, Mango, visited my home in April and brought this series to my attention when we visited Powell’s Bookstore in Portland.  It’s so good!

My Phone and My Charger. I can’t show you the phone because I used it to take this photo.  If my phone dies, so do I. Nuff said.

mog box

Morgan:

I don’t have a purse, of course, and my wallet doesn’t have much, so I chose to expose the little catch all box I keep on my night stand.  It’s a box my sister gave me for my 40th birthday that’s painted with a New York City subway map.  Mostly I keep fun stuff in there, a tin of Beatles guitar picks, some Star Wars Attack of the Clones film cells, a pocket knife, a mini flashlight, a cool Celtic sun bracelet I got in Hollywood when Jenn and I went to see a-ha in concert and a device called a monocular. It helps me see sporting events and other things when I am in a large crowd.

The CD is a digital copy of a fascinating book that was discovered a hundred years ago but no one can decipher.  It’s called The Voynich Manuscript and it is filled with drawings of plants both domestic and foreign to Earth.  It’s written in a language no one has ever seen before and also contains some amazing star charts.  This digital copy allows detailed analysis but I am no closer than the world’s top scientists in decoding the narrative.

I keep my keys and glasses in the box at night, and occasionally some Jolly ranchers.

Wow!  Jennifer carries lots of goodies in her bag.  I am looking forward to reading your next book.    Morgan, I love that you shared that personal box of yours with your fans/readers.

Thank you both for participating in this week’s post.

Publicist Shaunna Noble is no stranger to the ego-filled dysfunction of Hollywood’s elite, but is she ready for her two biggest clients to turn into her worst nightmare?

Kyle Petersen and Michelle Cooper are Hollywood royalty, everyone’s favorite celebrity couple, but while on location filming their new summer blockbuster, Kyle ambushes his wife with divorce papers and orders Shaunna to destroy Michelle in the media. Unwilling to comply, Shaunna spectacularly and publicly quits her job, humiliating Kyle in the process.

David Quinn, a struggling actor cast alongside the A-listers, is caught in the crossfire. When pictures surface of David and Michelle out on the town, media and fans rush to crown them Hollywood’s new hot couple. Kyle explodes, tensions boil over, and everyone’s lives and careers are thrown into jeopardy.

So what’s a publicist to do? Especially when Shaunna finds herself falling in love with the sexy and talented David. Can she put out fires on the set while keeping the flames burning in the bedroom?

Love, lies and passion. What happens when the naked truth is exposed?

This just in…The latest on Kendall Ryan’s new book @KendallRyan1

News from Kendall Ryan

My upcoming book has been tentatively titled The Dominant, and I’ve begun to question if that’s the right title. The Dominant reads hard core BDSM read? This book is totally not. In fact, the characters have taken a different turn and it has more angst and feels, along with the sexy. There are *very* light BDSM elements. A few toys, and lots of sexy.

At its core, it’s a forbidden love story about a man who fell for his best friend’s little sister years ago, and now she’s back in town, coming off a bad breakup looking for a little fun and a lot of rebound sex. He’s had to lock-down his heart, but agrees to help her – on his terms!

With this I have decided it needed a new title to fully describe the book at its best.

Releasing on July 14 is

SINFULLY MINE

SYNOPSIS:

She was forbidden.

I didn’t care.

As my best friend’s little sister, Macey Hale was off-limits. Tempting as sin, and forbidden as fuck. I wish I could say that stopped me. I wish I could tell you I’d behaved like a gentleman.

I didn’t.

When she waltzes back into my life with that same spark I fell for, looking every bit the beautiful woman I knew she’d grow into, I have to force myself to remember I’m different from the man she once knew. I’m colder. Harder. And for good reason.

With my heart on lockdown, and my hands aching to touch her, I set out to prove that I can keep myself in check this time.

No strings. No attachments.

And definitely no falling for her again.

This is book two in the Lessons with the Dom series, following The Gentleman Mentor. Both are complete standalone novels featuring sexy Dominant men you’re sure to fall in love with. Enjoy!

EXCERPT

Up until this moment, sex been a meaningless physical act meant to quiet the need raging inside me, nothing more than joyless weekend hookups with girls whose names I wouldn’t recall in the morning. But Macey wasn’t just the girl I’d grown to love, she was also my best friend’s little sister and a virgin—a combination that was completely off-limits.

You should all know that I’m a handbag addict. This is my favorite bag, Modalu London “Pippa” bag named after Pippa Middleton and matching “Pippa” wallet.

Bookmarks: I always carry bookmarks with me, because you never know who you will run into. I consider them my business cards.

Sunglasses: My Chanel sunnies are always with me!

Basic Beauty essentials: Anti-bacterial hand gel, lip balm, hand lotion and a pop of lip color, gotta have that Clinque chubby stick.

iPhone: Instantly connected to email and social media wherever I go. I use the notepad feature a lot, for the simple reason to keep track of any story ideas I have while I am out and about.  Other apps I love: Instagram and dictionary.com.

Thanks Christy for opening up you purse to your readers/fans.

Susi Reviews- The Write Stuff by Tiffany King @AuthorTiffany

 Susi Reviews The Write Stuff

by Tiffany Kingthe write stuff cover

Twenty-two-year-old historical romance writer Nicole Blake, or N.S. Blake to her readers, hasn’t taken an official poll, mind you, but she is convinced she may be the only romance author on the planet who is still a card-carrying member of the virgin club. Not that she hasn’t tried to end her membership. Life just keeps finding pesky ways to interfere. With no prospects on the horizon, Nicole begins to feel like the closest she will ever get to experiencing a man is within her own stories.

Opportunity presents itself in the form of hot-as-sin-on-a-lollipop-stick bartender/premed student Alec Petropoulos, who agrees to be the cover model for her upcoming book. Sparks fly instantly between them, and Nicole begins to entertain the possibility that she’s finally found the right guy to hand over her tattered V-card. Alec has all the makings for a perfect one-night-stand candidate except, much to Nicole’s surprise, he seems to be the only man in existence not interested in bagging a virgin.

Stuck between a rock and a stubborn male, what’s a virgin to do? Seduce him, of course. How hard could it be? If it works for the characters in her stories, why wouldn’t it work for her? After all, what happens under the cover…stays under the cover.

 My Review

This week I read The Write Stuff by Tiffany King and I am excited to tell you all about it.  First of all, I loved this book!  I loved the characters, the plot and the settings.  Nicole, the female protagonist is awesome.   She is living one of my dreams as a romance writer so I became an instant fan of hers.  Her friend Olivia who shoots covers for her books is the type of friend every woman needs to have.  She is real, honest, funny and proves to be a fantastic friend.  Nicole meets the latest cover model for her upcoming book.  Whoa…. He blew me away.  Alec Petropoulos is oh so yummy. There is so much more to this delicious man than good looks. I enjoyed discovering all about him in this book.

There are so many relatable scenes for me in this book that I had a hard time putting it down.  As a blogger, I pictured myself at the book signings interacting with the authors and other bloggers.  Having been to Book Bash in Orlando, your story came to life.  As a lover of romance, your book had it all.  There were deliciously written sex scenes, love, angst, brilliant symbolism, light hearted humor and of course, Alec, the hottie.   So yes, as a lover of eye candy and sexy cover models, Alec totally did it for me.  He is a total package!

I am also a Floridian so I enjoyed experiencing the story in places I’ve been to. The Florida heat, I absolutely get that too.

Finally, this adorably written love story unfolded before my very eyes.  You mentioned submersion into a story, well that is exactly what happened to me.  I enjoyed reading/living out the story in my mind.

If you are looking for a fun sexy read, I recommend The Write Stuff by Tiffany KingThe Write Stuff is the first book I’ve read by Tiffany and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I gave this book 4 stars!

Cover Reveal

Spencer by Kerry Heavens

I am thrilled to share this cover with you today!

I can’t wait to meet Spencer on May 7th.

Yeah, he’s delicious isn’t he?

Check it out!

SPENCERCOVERKINDLE1

Releasing May 7, 2015

@TheSpencerRyan exudes confidence,

I mean, have you seen him???

His dark good looks and tattooed muscled perfection are too much.

He’s hot. Lickably hot.

And he has a way with words that leaves me breathless.

But cocky doesn’t even cover it,

this guy is so arrogant you have to fight back.

But God he’s so lickable!

The thing is though,

he looks like sex but he’ll taste like jackass.

@OMGJazzyP is a sexy, annoying ball of rage in fuck-me heels

and she hates me.

Although her nipples would tend to disagree.

It’s a deadly combination.

She’s a princess.

And when I say princess, I mean intolerable, spoiled brat with a tiara.

Sure she’s got that curvaceous goddess thing going on,

but that mouth of hers…

God it needs something in it to shut it up.

#GotJustTheThingRightHere

This is not your average British romance.

It’s a tale of high heels, hot tattooed bad boys and

sex oranges, all wrapped up in a coating of chocolate.

It’s ‘love’ in a social media world,

where not everyone is who they seem

and where some people’s bios should carry a warning.

#JustSayin

About the Author

Kerry Heavens

‘I am what I am,’ as the song goes. ‘I don’t want praise, I don’t want pity. I bang my own drum, some think its a noise, I think its pretty. So what if I love each sparkle and each bangle. why not see things from a different angle? Your life is a shame ’til you can shout out, I am what I am.”

So here goes…I’m Kerry, I live with my family outside London. I am married to the love of my life and we have two amazing, beautiful children and a nutball Boston terrier, called Betty.

I graduated from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design with a degree in Fashion. I realised straight away that the industry wasn’t for me, so I’ve been creatively frustrated ever since. I have tried a bit of everything to satisfy my need for a creative outlet. Nothing keeps me happy for long. Until I discovered writing. Writing a book has always been a dream, but I had no clue where to start. Then one day, parking my car at the supermarket, Liv & Danny came to me like a thunderbolt. I don’t know where they came from, but I raced home and started making them real. Now I have two books to publish and lots more ideas to work on.

I am extremely prone to crushes on boys in books…on trains, in the street, wherever. From my early infatuation with Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing and Tom Cruise in Cocktail, to my recent obessions with book-boyfriends like Christian Grey, Travis Maddox and Kellan Kyle, I have always been the same. For the time it takes me to read a book I have an intense love affair with the characters, sometimes they stay with me for a week, sometimes its for life. Sometimes I feel like I will need therapy to cope with the fact that they are not real and will never be mine! Even though I am devoted to my husband, I’ll never change, not as long as brilliant, creative writers keep giving me deeply flawed, yet perfect men to love…
I hope, I dream, that these are the types of characters I can one day create to be obsessed over.
