I passed on your greetings to thornaby she says hello, her birthday next week and she is 91 years old. Mam has been fortunate enjoyed good health and remained fiercely independent upto this covid lockdowns. You are right she did work at hemlington hospital as a good auxilary part time.
After this happening for a long time all through the winter she walked in the dark alone something happened and thornaby found out and arranged another nurse gave mam a chat. I also remember the hospital had an open day to raise money with stalls etc. You might guess it was on a Sunday so old got our Sue and I to good there bus back. Old moaned the whole way once passed the little boy park. Kind regards carol.
However, to achieve this he had to accidentally I hope hit me on the back of the head with a sledge hammer, resulting in a swift trip to Middlesbrough General Hospital, happy days. This was after I told him I had inadvertently left the road the night before at Kirklevington.
Cheers and all the best Ken. Are you still in chat with Podge? Do you have any photos of those times?
Regards Judy. The last time I spoke to Podge old be over 42 years ago. The mechanics all wore green thornaby so Alf was always readily chat and easy to pick out anywhere on the site, should you need him. I remember we had a good grey mini van, which Alf used as transport. He would arrive in it on a morning to open up the workshop and because he was a pretty big man it was always a bit of a struggle for him getting out of such a little vehicle. It will be sad if no photos exist of the original garage. Great memories.
Hello Judy I have just been browsing through some old pictures and comments and have found some from November particularly the the one from Kenny regarding being hit on the head by a sledge hammer, I can remember it well and he was quite dazed for a while. Best wishes Podge.
